Swansea Bay media co-op: New members date

The board of a new Swansea Bay media organisation have issued a second invitation to potential new members of their local news co-operative. The gathering will take place this Thursday (March 4) from 1pm at Swansea Yacht and Sub-Aqua Club, close to the Dylan Thomas Centre.
They ask: "Do you want to be part of an exciting new future for the news industry? Local News South Wales (LNSW) is an innovative social enterprise being run along not-for-profit co-operative lines.
"With premises in Port Talbot and a board of seven experienced journalists with strong local connections, LNSW is on track to launch.
"Quality journalism will be the focus and the intention is to pay union rates for work carried out by co-op members.
"A training element will help build community skills and inclusiveness, and any profits will be reinvested in the company.
"With momentum building towards the launch of the project, we're seeking now to expand our membership."
Members will have a voice in LNSW's future and will be well placed for paid work when the co-op is up and running.
Membership can cost as little as £5 and it's one member, one vote. More details: localnewsporttalbot@nsasr.co.uk.
