Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England, is to highlight the important role local newspapers have played in keeping the public informed during the financial crisis.
His support will come as a boost to local papers such as the South Wales Evening Post, Llanelli Star and South Wales Guardian.
Mr King was invited to write a piece to celebrate Local Newspaper Week (10-16 May).
It'd be good PR for the papers to report Mr King's support. Business clients, in particular, will be interested.
